Feeling Small? Learn from the Ants

Have you ever gone through something that just felt too much for you to carry? If you felt like you could loose your head under pressure, you are not alone. Most of us experience this over and over. Yet while we do have limits, most of us can bear much more than we think we can. Sometimes it seems like a game of “how much can you take?”

One of the benefits of increased responsibility is that we learn that God made us to be able to carry much more than we think. This is especially true when we rely on His grace and listen to Him to be sure we are doing what he wants us to do. He will never call us to something that we cannot handle. His grace is always sufficient for us.

Don’t misunderstand me, we do have limits and we need to learn to read the signs of trying to do too much. Yet many people baby themselves because they feel small in their own eyes. God has made you to do whatever he gives you to do.

The Bible tells us to learn from the ants. So listen to something I read recently about ants.

The ability of worker ants to carry many times their own body weight is well documented, but new research on heavy-lifting ants reveals that the neck joint of a common American field ant can withstand pressures up to 5,000 times greater than its own body weight.

So be encouraged! You are going to be OK. Stay close to the Father. Listen to Him. Let him assure you as needed or redirect you as necessary, but don’t move into fear or self-protection. You were made to make a difference and God will use you much more than you think would be possible. Have faith in God and learn from the ants.
